David Louis
A unique approach
David’s approach to mediation involves a meaningful, future-focused conversation that empowers you to communicate with each other, make your own informed decisions and create a plan for moving forward. Each partner has a voice in discussions. Functioning as an intermediary, David creates a neutral, supportive atmosphere conducive to exploring creative solutions to financial challenges and children’s needs. With David you are empowered to make informed decisions acceptable to both of you. |
Preparation Protocols
David knows that preparing for mediation can make the actual process go much more smoothly. Over the years he has consistently encouraged clients to ask questions about the upcoming process and do baseline financial research ahead so that the total picture is clear. Full financial disclosure prepares both parties to make informed decisions during mediation. Adding to this basic preparation, David now makes use of the “Our Family in Two Homes” resource package—a workbook created by collaborative family law attorney Jacinta Gallant for use by parents who are divorcing while still raising children. Accessing the workbook individually, you can identify your primary goals, needs and values, and consider characteristic communication patterns that will affect the mediation process. How do you tend to operate in times of stress? How do you typically react and respond? How do you perceive your partner’s parallel patterns? Gaining insight into yourself and your relationship can make mediation conversations more efficient, effective and easeful. |

“Two things attracted me: While I had worked as a decision-maker in finance, I liked the freedom of mediation, where I don’t make the decisions—my clients do. I was also attracted to the field as a future-focused planning process. I enjoy working with people, helping them to think about how to move forward from where they are now.” —David
